Top ways to raise quarters for Laundry Love

Top Ways to Raise Quarters for Laundry Love.

Play quarters with the local street thugs.

Rob a tollbooth

Have your Grandpa “magically” pull them out from behind your ears.

Put a “Make a Wish Foundation” box in a store but secretly it is for Laundry Love

Open a kissing booth.

Bully Jeff Jordan into giving you his lunch money. (like so long ago…)

The other day I happened to notice a bunch of quarters in the fountain at Fashion Island.

Pull your teeth and leave them for the Tooth Fairy.

Host Bible studies at your house and check the couch cushions after they leave.

Invoke the “If I had a quarter for every time…” rule in your household.

Okay, so we had a little fun with it, but now that that’s over in all seriousness, here are a few ideas…

Serious Ways to Raise Quarters for Laundry Love

I left a jar on my desk at work and sent out an email for people to come by and put coins in it. I raised around 13 dollars or so and I plan on doing this every month.

You know all the loose change you get from fast food drive-thu’s? Keep a cup in your car and every time you get some change put it in the cup for Laundry Love.

Go around your neighborhood, door-to-door, with a cup and ask for any extra quarters your neighbors may have. This is especially good if you have cute kids to take with you.

Recycle class, paper etc. use the cash for quarters.

Well I hope this helps out a bit. You see how easy it is to collect loose change and use if for real change. As you can see, a little creativity can go a long way.

New Laundry Love video

Laundry Love People in Sulphur Springs, Florida has put together a new video highlighting their local Laundry Love. Check it out…

Our next Red Oak Laundry Love will be July 25th from 6 to 8 p.m. Bring a friend and come join us.

A new name and focus

You may notice a change here on our website, we’ve joined with the other LLP’s across the country to change our name from Red Oak Laundry Love Project to Red Oak Laundry Love People.

The idea comes from the folks at JustOne and we’re happy to join with them in this change.

The reasons for the change are simple….

  • People are NOT projects
  • LLP is about ‘people’, those serving and being served.
  • This change speaks of the reciprocation that LLP provides.
  • LLP as collaboration among people, not based on project/program.

We hope this change helps us and others put even more emphasis on the people we hope to serve and we hope it helps us all get past the idea that people can be treated as projects or causes.

We look forward to what’s to come! Will you join us?

Thanks to Jenn for putting this together!

Breaking it down…

We had our first Laundry Love Project tonight in Glenn Heights. Quite certain we all had a great time.

Four of us served up laundry for a number of folks.

We estimate we served up 14 loads of wash, 16 loads in the dryers and met some new friends along the way.

Here’s a quick video of Rodrick, one of those new friends, who breaks it down for us with the Shane-O-Mac dance.

We hope to add more thoughts, video and photos in the coming days and we’re already looking forward to next month!
